East Lothian Golf Tour - An Idea for a Golf Tour in East Lothian

East Lothian Golf Tour

Here is an idea for an East Lothian Golf Tour.

East Lothian is known as "The Golf Coast" due to the magnificent links courses on offer. These include Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar, Craigielaw and both the West Links at North Berwick and the Glen course.

Choose from the lovely Lodges at Craigielaw Golf Club, the 4 Star Macdonald Holyrood Hotel in the city of Edinburgh or the fabulous 5 Star Greywalls at Muirfield, Gullane.

You may either book this at it stands or have us customise it to your particular requirements. These tours are only to give you an idea what is available for your budget.

We also offer a chauffeured transport option.

Craigielaw Golf Club located on the East Lothian Coast near to Muirfield and Gullane is one of the relatively new links golf courses in Scotland. The course was designed by the highly acclaimed golf architect Donald Steel and a great addition to the more established East Lothian golf courses. Craigielaw golf course and the onsite accommodation both offer spectacular views over the Firth of Forth to Kingdom of Fife.

Dunbar Golf Club is located on the eastern end of Scotland's Golf Coast which also also boasts magnificent golf courses such as Murfield, Gullane, North Berwick and Craigielaw. Dunbar, established in 1856 is an Open Championship Final Qualifying Venue. Not overly long at 6,500 yards, it lies yards from the rocky shoreline and has well defined holes that follow the natural contours of the narrow strip of land that lies between the shoreline and Deer Park. Dunbar hosted the first European Tour PGA Championship, now held annually at Wentworth Golf Club.

The Glen Course North Berwick

Glen Golf Club is the East Links at North Berwick with the West Links being North Berwick Golf Club. Located just 25 miles east of the capital city of Edinburgh, in the town of North Berwick. Designed in 1894 it comprised of only 9 holes and in 1906 it was extended to 18 holes by James Braid and Ben Sayers. It was James Braid's' first venture into golf course design. Glen Golf Club boasts a breathtaking cliff top location which provides a large number of spectacular holes with magnificent views across the Firth of Forth, it's islands and the Bass Rock.

Gullane is located close to Muirfield with 3 golf courses that are simply named No 1, No 2 and No 3 with Number 1 being buit first. Golf has been played at Gullane for over 350 years and all the courses are blessed with superb turf and a climate that is favorable to all year round golf,  Gullane No. 1 was laid out in 1884 and has hosted numerous prestigious national and international championships over the years.

Muirfield and Open Championship venue is one of the best golf courses in Scotland and reckoned to be the fairest of all the Open venues. It has hosted the Open on 16 occasions and is home to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. It is also one of the most difficult golf courses in Scotland to obtain a tee tim as tee times for visitors are restricted to handicaps of 18 and in addition only a few tee times are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is advisable to book at least one year in advance.

North Berwick West Links

North Berwick Golf Club is one of the finest locations to play golf in East Lothian if not Scotland as many are of the opinion it is one of the best golf courses in Scotland.
