Fortrose Golf Club

Fortrose Golf Club

Fortrose Golf Club was formed in 1888.

Golf was documented however as having been played over Chanonry (now Fortrose) as early as 1702.

Located just north of Inverness on the Black Isle, Fortrose sits on a narrow stretch of land on the Chanonry peninsula.

It was redesigned in 1932 by James Braid who won the Open Championship 5 times.

What the course lacks in length is made up by it having small deceptive greens and strategically placed bunkers.

Although the Par is 71, the standard scratch score is 69, anyone playing to their handicap has played well,.

This is especially true if the wind blows which is very common when playing links golf in Scotland.

Fortrose has received numerous accolades such as :-

‘A gem of a course by the sea'

‘Perhaps the best jewel in the highland golfing crown'

‘A unique course with special character to be found nowhere else'.

The Club is open every day of the year and welcomes visiting golfers from all parts of the world.

Fortrose Golf Club is well worth inclusion in Scotland Golf Packages.
